Founders
Fabio Anzà, PhD
Theoretical Physicist
Fabio is deeply fascinated by the power of information theory to describe natural phenomena.
After the PhD at the University of Oxford he moved to the US. There, he worked first as Independent Research Fellow at the University of California, Davis and then as Research Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he joined the newly founded InQubator for Quantum Simulations.
He recently moved back to Italy, where he created Kernel Science.
Simone Anzà, PhD
Life-science Biologist
Simone is specialized in Biology of Developmental Plasticity and he is mostly interested in gut microbiome, stress physiology, and health.
During his PhD at the University of Göttingen he had been hosted at the Göttingen Genomics Lab to investigate the gut microbial signature of maternal stress. Now he’s a postdoctoral researcher at the department of excellence CIBIO of Trento University and investigates cardio-metabolic outcomes associated with gut microbiome and diet.
He is intrigued by the use of Artificial Intelligence in computational approaches for multi-omics studies.
Bruna Anzà, Msc
Pharmaceutical Chemist
Bruna is passionate about food chemistry and nutrition. She believes that sustainable food systems are essential for environmental protection and public health.
She is a PhD Student in Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino. There, she is researching agrifood waste as raw material for biotechnological applications. Previously, she worked as Team Leader in Alpha-Protein GmbH and as Scientific Consultant for The Good Food Institute Europe and Bruno Cell SRL.
She believes in the power of communication to implement new emergent technologies in daily life. Therefore, she is currently Vice-president of Cell Ag Italy.
Collaborators
Carmen Falcone, PhD
Neurobiologist
Carmen is Assistant Professor at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), where she leads the Falcone Lab, focused on evolution, development and astrocytes.
She loves doing research and communicating science to the public. She is also a strong advocate for diversity, women and immigrants in science.
Nishan Ranabhat, MSc
Computational Physicist
Nishan is a 4th year PhD candidate in Condensed Matter Physics at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA).
He is interested in out-of-equilibrium properties of strongly correlated systems and in the development of code and algorithms for the simulation of many-body quantum systems.
Valentino Attanasio, MSc
Energy Engineer
Valentino is specialized on sustainability and climate change mitigation and adaptation. He is a dedicated climate activist, with a strong belief in the power of small everyday actions to make a meaningful impact on our planet.
Valentino worked as a technical designer and assistant project manager in Tanger, Morocco, and as a logistician for the immigration emergency in Lampedusa. Furthermore, as a senior volunteer for the European Union, he led a pilot project in Ghanaian high schools with the objective of raising awareness about climate change.
Cecilia Ceccherini, Msc
Industrial biotechnologist
Cecilia is interested in the development and improvement of new drugs, therapies, and medical devices and she wants to help make informed decisions regarding the adoption, funding, and utilization of healthcare technologies.
In collaboration with Sanofi, she investigated the effectiveness of probiotics and prebiotics for the treatment of IBS and AD for her master’s thesis at the University of Pavia, and she worked as a project manager in Italbiotec srl. She is now specializing in pharmaceutical management to become CRA.
